Filmmaker and journalist Indrajit Lankesh on Tuesday claimed that not less than 15 folks within the Kannada movie business have been concerned in drug trafficking.
He made the declare a day after deposing earlier than the police to share the details about the alleged drug racket working within the movie business.
“I have given (names of) around 15 people whom I know are into drug business. I shared those names with the police,” Mr Lankesh instructed PTI.
Mr Lankesh was questioned for almost 5 hours by the Central Crime Branch on Monday for his assertion that there have been many individuals within the movie business who have been into the drug enterprise both as customers or sellers.
The filmmaker made the assertion within the wake of the Narcotics Control Bureau busting a drug trafficking racket in Bengaluru and mentioned some “prominent musicians and actors” in Karnataka have been underneath its scanner.
The filmmaker mentioned he needed to show the drug use within the business.
“There are celebrities, when they start smoking and start doing cocaine, they are the brand ambassadors of youth today. These people think it is cool..,” he added.
Mr Lankesh mentioned he suspected that a few of the events organised within the “Sandalwood” have been hosted by drug mafias inside the business.
Mr Lankesh didn’t rule out the potential of the Mumbai underworld behind the availability of medication to a piece of individuals within the Kannada movie business.
Meanwhile, the police mentioned they have been probing the matter.
