Kerala BJP President Ok Surendran on Tuesday claimed the general public doesn’t care in regards to the rise in gas costs and that worth hikes is not going to have an effect on the native physique polls within the state.
Petrol and diesel costs rose for the sixth day in a row on Monday as charges went up by 26-30 paise per litre and charges for petrol in Delhi rose to Rs 83.71 per litre, from Rs 83.41 whereas diesel worth went up from Rs 73.61 to Rs 73.87 per litre.
Mr Surendran mentioned it was the Congress celebration which handed over the value regulation authority to the oil corporations.
“The rise in fuel prices in the country will not affect the public and it is not a factor in the election. It was the Congress which gave the price determination authority to the oil companies,” Ok Surendran informed reporters.
His remark got here as the primary part of the three tier native physique polls was held on Tuesday.
When requested about his protest in opposition to gas worth hike through the earlier UPA rule, by pushing his scooter by means of the street, Mr Surendran mentioned, “Today there are other people in the Opposition to take up that role.”
“I protested when I was in the Opposition. That’s how things work. It’s not a big deal. We will protest when we are in the Opposition. The public does not care about the fuel prices. We are providing free rice, cooking gas, cheap medicine, kissan samman nidhi and other benefits for the public and that’s why we are winning all elections across the country,” Ok Surendran mentioned.
The Kerala BJP chief claimed that the value of petrol within the nation was Rs 87 through the UPA rule and now it’s round Rs 83.
When reporters identified that it was round Rs 67 underneath the UPA, Ok Surendran dismissed it, saying it was a part of the justification given by the Congress and CPI(M).
