After staging protests outdoors petrol pumps and stores of Reliance, protesting farmers in Punjab have now began disconnecting power supply to Jio cell towers disrupting the telecom large’s companies in a number of elements of the state.
Farmers owing allegiance to totally different farmers’ unions have shut the power supply to a number of Jio towers in Nawanshahr, Ferozepur, Mansa, Barnala, Fazilka, Patiala and Moga districts in final three days.
In Ferozepur, the power supply to the mobile transmission towers was lower by farmers individually beneath the banner of BKU (Ugrahan) and BKU (Dakaunda).
In Nawanshahr, farmers beneath the banner of Kirti Kisan Union (KKU) disconnected power supply to 11 Jio cell towers.
In many of the villages in Barnala and Bathinda, farmers locked the gates of towers after snapping the power supply.
Jagmohan Singh Patiala, working group member of All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee, stated, “Our teams in the field are conducting surveys to find independent towers of Jio… our target will be only such independent towers.”
Jio Telecommunications refused to remark until the time of submitting of this report. A Venuprasad, CMD, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) didn’t reply to request for remark.
