The Sonamura-Daudkandi inland waterways protocol route connecting Tripura to Bangladesh could be made operational on September 5 within the presence of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, an official stated on Friday.
The 90-km lengthy Sonamura-Daudkandi route, included within the checklist of Indo-Bangla protocol (IBP) routes in May this yr, is predicted to spice up commerce.

Another official stated, the trial run would start from September 2.
A barge carrying 50 tons of cement would attain the newly constructed jetty from Daudkandi in Comilla district in Bangladesh.

Gomati is a seasonal river and the water route can stay operational for under 3-Four months in a yr and silts needs to be lifted on common foundation from the Gomati to maintain the route operational, Mr Singh stated.
