India and the US have agreed to boost their collaboration on counternarcotics regulation and legislation enforcement, and recognized areas for joint motion and coordination on this “important” difficulty, a press release mentioned on Tuesday.

“The delegations engaged in wide-ranging conversations focused on increasing collaboration on counternarcotics regulation and law enforcement. The two sides identified areas for joint action and resolved to continue their close coordination on this important issue,” mentioned a joint assertion issued on Tuesday.
Noting that each side exchanged views on the broad array of narcotics-related challenges dealing with the US and India, the assertion mentioned that the officers dedicated to strengthening their cooperation in curbing the unlawful manufacturing, manufacturing, trafficking, and distribution of pharmaceutical and illicit medication, in addition to the precursor chemical compounds used to fabricate them.
Participants highlighted their efforts in combating drug trafficking in accordance with the principles and laws of their respective nations and proposed to share finest practices for countering artificial opioids and precursor chemical compounds.
The two sides additionally mentioned initiatives to strengthen India’s regional management position in constructing capability for counternarcotics initiatives in South Asia; countering regional cross-border drug trafficking and crime by way of enhanced sharing of operational intelligence; and increasing legislation enforcement cooperation on counternarcotics points.
Both sides additionally agreed to cooperate and help one another within the space of drug remedy and consciousness in opposition to drug abuse, mentioned the joint assertion.
