Kerala has received a United Nations award on Thursday for its “outstanding contribution” in direction of the non-communicable diseases-related sustainable growth targets.
The UN Interagency Task Force (UNIATF) award this yr on prevention and management of non-communicable illnesses was introduced by World Health Organization director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The award recognises achievements throughout 2019 on the multi-sectoral motion within the prevention and management of NCDs, psychological well being and the broader NCD-related sustainable growth targets (SDGs).
Health Minister KK Shailaja stated the award was a recognition of the tireless service of Kerala within the well being sector.
“The state government has arranged facilities from the basic public health centres to hospitals at all levels to treat the lifestyle diseases,” Ms Shailaja stated in an announcement. “We were able to control the death rate during the COVID-19 period as we were able to focus on the NCDs.”
She congratulated all of the well being staff for the achievement of the state.
This is the primary time the state has been recognised for this annual award. Kerala is among the many seven ministries of well being the world over.
