The Union Health Ministry has executed away with the requirement of a licence for stocking and sale of hand sanitiser to make it extra broadly out there for the general public amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to an official notification, the ministry granted the exemption below the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, however mentioned retailers have to make sure that such merchandise will not be bought or stocked after the date of expiry.
The ministry obtained a number of representations for exempting hand sanitiser from the requirement of sale licence, the notification mentioned.
The notification, dated July 27, said that the central authorities is happy that hand sanitiser is crucial to satisfy the necessities of emergency arising because of COVID-19 pandemic and their simple availability is made in public curiosity.
