A 14-year-old woman was mauled to loss of life by a lion in Dhanfuliya village of Gujarat’s Junagadh district, an official from the forest division mentioned on Tuesday.
The incident passed off in Vanthali vary forest space of Junagadh division, the place two women belonging to a household of migrant farm labourers stepped out late on Monday evening, the official mentioned.
“The girls were attacked by two young lions and one of them was dragged away and mauled to death around 2 am,” deputy conservator of forest Sunil Berwa mentioned.
According to officers, the opposite woman managed to flee by leaping right into a water tank.
“Our staff who were nearby rushed to the spot after hearing noise and saw the lions. The body was recovered soon after,” he mentioned.
The woman who was killed was recognized as Bhavna Baria, who belonged to a household of farm labourers from Godhra within the state’s Panchmahal district.
Efforts are underway to rescue the lion and cages are being positioned within the space, the official mentioned.
According to locals, lions have been noticed within the space because the final six months, and there have been incidents of them preying on cattle.
