To assist handle paddy stubble, the Punjab Cabinet Thursday gave in-principle approval to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) for organising a compressed biogas (CBG) plant on the website of closed cooperative sugar mills at Rakhra in Patiala.

The Cabinet licensed Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa to settle all phrases & circumstances, together with that of Land Lease Agreement in respect of 25 acres or extra space of the closed sugar mill, to be offered to IOCL for organising the Plant.
The plant, which will create each direct and oblique employment alternatives, will have capability of 30 tonnes CBG manufacturing, with day by day feedstock capability of roughly 300 tonnes of paddy straw per day. It would additionally generate natural manure to the tune of about 75,000 tonnes per annum.
