The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday directed the state authorities to give you a notification, making it obligatory for these violating the face masks rule to do group service at COVID-19 centres as a punishment along with the tremendous imposed on them.
A division bench of Chief Justice Vikram Nath and Justice J B Pardiwala in its order stated the group service at COVID-19 centres shall be non-medical in nature and shall be for four-six hours for five to 15 days, as authorities deem match.
The order got here on public curiosity litigation (PIL) in search of the courtroom’s route to make group service at COVID-19 centres obligatory for face masks rule violators.
The PIL stated many individuals had been discovered violating the rule, leading to a spike in COVID-19 instances.
The courtroom in its order stated, “Any person found not wearing or using face mask cover in a public place and/or violating the COVID protocol of social distance shall be mandated to do community service at any COVID centre run by local authorities.”
“Such a mandate of community service to be implemented for all violators without any discrimination. These duties shall be non-medical in nature, such as cleaning, housekeeping, cooking…,” it stated.
The nature of responsibility shall be appropriately determined by the authorities contemplating age, qualification and gender of rule violators, it stated.
