Over 160 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in Punjab mandis until Tuesday within the kharif season, which is 26 per cent increased over arrival within the corresponding interval of final procurement season.
During the present kharif season, 160.65 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in state mandis as far as towards about 127.46 tonnes throughout the corresponding interval final yr, Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Lal Singh mentioned in Chandigarh.
Of this, 158.52 lakh tonnes of paddy stands procured throughout the state. Mr Singh mentioned as many as 28.69 lakh passes have been issued by the Mandi Board to date to the farmers via arthiyas (fee brokers) to convey paddy to mandis.
He mentioned the Mandi Board has established 4,260 buy centres this yr, which is greater than double of 1,839 centres final yr.
Sangrur district is main when it comes to paddy arrival, with 14.88 tonnes of crop having arrived within the mandis, adopted by Patiala and Ludhiana with 14.40 lakh tonnes and 13.39 lakh tonnes, respectively, Mr Singh added.
