New Delhi:
Targetting the centre over the “deepening economic crisis”, senior Congress chief P Chidambaram on Thursday asserted that two main industries — telecom and aviation — are on the breaking point.
P Chidambaram, in a sequence of tweets, stated that thousands and thousands of individuals have misplaced their jobs or livelihood within the final 12 months, including that the collapse of the 2 main industries will price many extra thousand direct and oblique jobs.
“When will the BJP government acknowledge the gravity of the deepening economic crisis in the country? When will the Prime Minister acknowledge his failure and the failure of his economic managers?” Mr Chidambaram tweeted.
He stated that the aviation trade has suffered large losses and faces an unsure future until the central authorities steps in with a rescue plan.
“Will the government realize that one of our major telecom companies is on the verge of collapse and the government has no plan to save the struggling telecom industry? Will the government realize that the aviation industry has suffered massive losses and every one of them will go the Air India way unless the government steps in with a rescue plan?” Mr Chidambaram tweeted.
“Millions have lost their jobs or livelihood in the last 12 months. The collapse of two major industries — telecom and aviation — will cost many more thousand direct and indirect jobs,” he stated in one other tweet.
P Chidambaram’s comment comes a day after one of many leadling telecom firms, Bharti Airtel, posted a consolidated web lack of Rs 15,933 crore within the first quarter of the fiscal, primarily because of its one-time expense associated to the adjusted gross income (AGR) dues.
Meanwhile, the aviation trade can also be going via a disaster as journey restrictions proceed and worldwide passenger flights stay suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic, which has hampered economies and companies.
