Heavy rains within the catchment space of rivers in Madhya Pradesh, led to an increase in water ranges in a number of rivers in Maharashtra on account of which portion of a bridge collapsed within the Nagpur district on Sunday.
Locals stated that the collapse has led to the world being lower off and additional claimed that the rising waters have affected quite a few villages across the rivers.
“The situation is serious now, however, the administration is doing its part. The water is still really deep, the administration had rescued some people using boats yesterday,” Mahadev Laxman Shinde, a neighborhood, instructed ANI.
The MLA from Ramtek, Ashish Jaiswal, said that he was not conscious if a flood warning had been acquired by the Maharashtra authorities from Madhya Pradesh, and added that extra lively measures for pre-flood evacuation ought to have been carried out.
“The catchment area of the river in Madhya Pradesh received heavy rainfall, therefore, it released large amounts of water from the dam. The rising water levels have affected several homes in the villages located near the river. Thousand of people have been affected due to it,” Mr Jaiswal stated.
“The bridge was constructed between 2015 and 2018, it used to connect many villages of the tribal communities. I have asked for an inquiry to be conducted behind its collapse and action will be taken against those who are found guilty,” he added.
