NCP chief Sharad Pawar mentioned on Tuesday that he was not shocked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ladakh, and reminded that Jawaharlal Nehru had additionally visited the area after the 1962 struggle and so did then Defence Minister Yashwantrao Chavan.
Speaking to reporters in Pune, Mr Pawar recalled that when he was the Defence Minister in 1993, he had gone to China and a treaty was signed, below which troopers from each the edges have been to be pulled again.

To a query about PM Modi’s go to to Ladakh after the clashes between Indian and Chinese troopers in Galwan valley, Mr Pawar mentioned that in 1962, China defeated India in struggle.
“But (then prime minister) Nehru had gone there. Even Yashwantrao Chavan, who was defence minister, too had gone to the China border and boosted the morale of the forces.
“When there’s a battle state of affairs between two nations and forces are concerned, the nation’s management has to make sure that the morale of the forces is boosted. I’m not shocked that he (Modi) went there,” Mr Pawar mentioned.
