Top officers of the ministries of Electronics and Information Technology and Home Affairs briefed the panel on information safety, sources mentioned.

They mentioned the officers additionally briefed the committee on the explanations for banning the Chinese apps.

The authorities on June 29 banned 59 Chinese apps, together with TikTok, ShareIt and WeChat, terming them prejudicial to sovereignty, integrity and nationwide safety.
