The Sikkim authorities has prolonged the statewide lockdown until August 1 to curb the unfold of the novel coronavirus, in response to a notification.
A whole, six-day lockdown, imposed by the hilly state, was scheduled to finish on Sunday.
“After careful consideration of the situation, it has been decided to extend the period of lockdown in the entire state of Sikkim till 6 am of August 1, 2020,” a notification issued by Chief Secretary S C Gupta stated.
The state reported its first COVID-19 demise on Sunday after a 74-year-old man died to the illness at a state-run hospital in Gangtok, the official stated.
Sikkim has 357 lively instances of COVID-19, whereas the full instances stand at 499, a senior well being official stated.
As many as 142 folks have recovered from the illness.
