Rawat govt. plea to put aside HC order
The Supreme Court on Thursday issued notice to a journalist and others on a petition filed by the Uttarakhand authorities to put aside a Nainital High Court order which quashed an FIR registered towards them for dishonest, forgery and conspiracy and went on to suo motu order a CBI probe into allegations towards Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat.

A Bench led by Justice Ashok Bhushan issued notice to Mr. Sharma and different respondents on the State’s attraction, represented by battery of attorneys led by senior advocates Mukul Rohatgi, P.S. Patwalia, A.N.S Nadkarni and advocate Vanshaja Shukla. The respondents might file their counter-affidavits. The case would come up after 4 weeks.
The case pertains to a Facebook video broadcast by Mr. Sharma allegedly exhibiting paperwork and again account particulars of 1 Dr. Harender Singh Rawat and his spouse. He allegedly claimed that the couple have been associated to the Chief Minister. The video claimed that deposits of cash meant for the Chief Minister have been made into these financial institution accounts when demonetisation was introduced in 2016. The authorities plea mentioned police inquiry discovered that no such deposits have been made into the financial institution accounts of Dr. Harender Singh Rawat and his spouse throughout or after the 2016 demonetisation interval.
