The West Bengal authorities has introduced modifications within the dates for the whole lockdown dates in August for the fourth time, eradicating all Sundays from the purview of the restriction to test the unfold of the contagion within the state.
As per the brand new modifications the lockdown will now be enforced on August 20 and 21 and August 27 and 28, as an alternative of August 16, 17, 23 and 24 as introduced earlier, the federal government order stated.
The different lockdown dates – August 5, eight and 31 — stay unchanged.
This for the fourth time the state authorities has modified the dates. On July 28 the state authorities had thrice altered the dates.
The state authorities had on July 28 withdrawn the whole lockdown on August 2 and 9 and introduced down the variety of lockdown days from 9 to seven.
The step had then been taken after receiving requests from completely different communities for the reason that dates coincided with festivals, officers had stated.
This time too requests and appeals have been obtained from completely different quarters to chill out the lockdown on sure dates as they’re coinciding with some festivals and days marked for the observance of native customs.
The order issued by state chief secretary Rajiva Sinha stated “We have taken this decision to partially modify the order keeping in view of the requests received and in due consideration of the public sentiment.”
In the recent order, the state authorities has withdrawn lockdowns on Sundays as proposed by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The change of lockdown dates elicited sharp reactions from the opposition events which criticised the ruling TMC, alleging that it’s fully clueless and has did not handle the disaster arising out of COVID-19.
“The state government has not only failed but is also clueless about the way forward. The state government could change the dates, but it didn’t yield to our request to change the date of August 5 the day of bhoomi pujan at Ayodhya for the construction of the Ram Mandir,” BJP nationwide secretary Rahul Sinha stated.
The state BJP has requested the state authorities to shift the date because it did for the Eid competition.
CPI(M) legislature get together chief Sujan Chakraborty stated the chief minister and her authorities had turned the thought of the lockdown right into a “farce”.
“We don’t know whether the TMC government is running an administration or a circus,” he stated.
West Bengal has up to now reported 78,232 circumstances of COVID-19. There are 1,234 containment zones within the state at current.
