How Good Will Chet Holmgren Be?

Most basketball betting analysts are projecting Chet Holmgren to be the number 1 pick of the 2022 NBA Draft. At 7ft and weighing just 195 pounds, some are wondering if the 20-year-old can handle the intensity of the NBA, where most 7fters weigh 240 pounds and more!

Who Is Chet Holmgren?

Chet Holmgren is an American basketballer hailing from Minnesota. His father played college ball in Minnesota. Holmgren played one year of college basketball at Gonzaga, where he started 31 games and averaged 14 points per game.

Amazingly when Chet Holmgren first started playing basketball at age 8, he was terrible! According to his first, he couldn’t even make an uncontested layup, and his shorts, more often than not, ended up as airballs. However, things changed quickly when he grew from 6ft2 to 6ft10. His height wasn’t the only thing that changed, his skill level also went through a growth spurt!

Why Is Chet Holmgren Rated So Highly?

Basketball experts are excited about Chet Holmgren because he has the height of a center combined with the skills of a guard. He can dribble, crossover, step and blow past guards. He has incredible speed, which should not be humanly possible for a player of his size.

Chet Holmgren doesn’t just have amazing handles and speed, but he can shoot threes, has a great mid-range jumper, and is super reliable from the free-throw line. Another freaky statistic has got basketball analysts excited, his wingspan. Chet Holgrem has a crazy wingspan of 7ft6. He is a superior jumper compared to other athletes of his size and has no problems securing rebounds. Some analysts are concerned about his skinny frame because even though he is 7ft, he weighs just 195 pounds.

What Happened Between Chet Holmgren and Steph Curry?

Chet Holmgren became a national sensation after he played a pickup game with Steph Curry at the SC camp back in 2019. Steph Curry joined in on the high school camp, which bears his name, and was probably thinking he would show these high schoolers a thing or two, but Holmgren had other plans.

In the first play, Curry got wide open and cut towards the rim. He received a nice pass and went for an easy layup but then, out of nowhere, Holmgren appeared and smacked the ball out of the air, denying the all-star an easy 2. Something even crazier happened when Curry went to guard Holmgren. Holmgren, not afraid of the all-star, stood him up with a lovely crossover, then blew right by him for the dunk!

Final Thoughts

Chet Holmgren will most likely be drafted number 1 in the 2022 NBA Draft. He is the perfect combination of skill, size, and athleticism. We predict he will be a multiple-time all-star and average 20 + points a game.
