The crime department of Mumbai police has arrested a 46-year-old girl, a resident of Bengaluru, for allegedly stealing valuables of shoppers visiting malls and large showrooms in varied metro cities, an official stated on Wednesday.
The accused used to journey by air to numerous cities to commit thefts at malls, distinguished present rooms and parlours, he stated, including that police recovered jewelry, some money and a stolen cell phone from her possession.
Unit 5 of the Mumbai crime department apprehended the girl from her residence in Bengaluru and introduced her to the town on Tuesday, he stated.
The accused had allegedly stolen the purse of a lady containing gold jewelry price Rs 13.54 lakh, Rs 50,000 money, a cell phone valued at Rs 84,000 and different paperwork from a well-known showroom in Phoenix Mall at Lower Parel in central Mumbai, he stated.
An offence underneath related sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at NM Joshi Marg police station.
Earlier, related offences had been dedicated on the identical showroom in Phoenix Mall and at a magnificence parlour in Dadar, he stated, including that the accused was recognized by way of CCTV footages.

“While analysing social media profiles of the woman, police found that she had been posting her pictures wearing the same dresses which she used to put on while committing crimes,” stated senior police inspector Jagdish Sail.
The probe revealed that the accused girl used to journey by air to numerous states from Bengaluru to commit thefts, he stated.
She was arrested in a theft case in 2019 as nicely, the officer stated.
