Tamhane, a wunderkind filmmaker, grew to become the primary director from India to compete in the principle class of a European movie competition after Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding in Venice in 2001. The Disciple seems to be at the world of classical musicians on the fringes of success. It follows Sharad Nerulkar (Aditya Modak), an Indian classical vocalist making an attempt to realize purity in his work as he has been raised on the tales of his father and guru concerning the masters of the previous.
