Four Punjab farmers returning from protest websites close to Delhi borders had been killed in two separate street accidents on Tuesday. In the primary incident, two farmers belonging to Patiala had been killed in an early morning accident after their tractor-trolley was hit by a truck in Haryana’s Karnal district, police stated.
In the accident, which passed off on Taraori flyover in Karnal, a 3rd farmer was significantly wounded whereas some others sitting on the trolley escaped with minor accidents. Taraori police station’s SHO Inspector Sachin stated the 2 deceased had been aged round 24 years and 50 years respectively. He stated one of many farmers travelling in the tractor trolley advised police that the truck driver appeared to have fallen asleep behind the wheels which led to the accident.
The truck driver managed to flee from the spot, he stated, including a case underneath related provisions of regulation has been registered in reference to the incident. “The farmers were returning from Delhi. They belonged to Saphera under Sadar Police station in Patiala,” he stated.
In one other street mishap, two extra Punjab farmers died whereas seven others injured when their automobile collided with a truck close to Bhagomajra in Mohali on Tuesday, officers stated. Deceased Deep Singh was a resident of Mohali district whereas Sukhdev Singh Dadiana was a local of Fatehgarh Sahib district. Out of the injured farmers, 4, who had been wounded significantly, have been referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research and a authorities hospital in Chandigarh, stated officers.
Three others had been admitted to a hospital in Mohali, they stated. Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu met the injured farmers.
