The US Commerce Department stated on Monday it’ll problem an order issued Sunday by a US decide that blocked the division’s order requiring Apple and Google to take away WeChat from their US app shops.
US Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler in San Francisco issued a preliminary injunction that blocked the division’s order, which might even have barred different US transactions with Tencent’s WeChat, probably making the app unusable within the United States.
“Prohibiting the identified transactions is necessary to protect the national security of the United States, and the department expects to soon seek relief from this order,” the Commerce Department stated.

On Friday, the Commerce Department had issued an order citing nationwide safety grounds to block the app from US app shops by 11:59 p.m. EDT Sunday.
The Justice Department had urged Beeler not to block the motion, saying it might “frustrate and displace the president’s determination of how best to address threats to national security.”
Tencent declined to touch upon Beeler’s order.
